3,000 queue up for the launch of Singapore iPhone 3GS

Some 3,000 people queued up for the debut of the iPhone 3GS in Singapore at the SingTel’s headquarters.

There was more than expected response of the previously estimated 1,500 to 2,000 customers who would turn-up.

Looks like the iPhone is getting more of a following this day eh.

Singtel’s executive Vice President was quoted, “On average, a customer during the peak period will queue between anywhere for three to four hours.”

It is reported those who queued and is at the front of the pack, waited over 11 hours since the beginning. Wow!

YouTube user SatyaSayaPhotography was quoted, “Taken moments after I got it and being the 10th in line (queuing for 12 hours), this is probably one of the first videos taken from an iPhone 3GS in Singapore, aptly showing the queue at launch date that makes u go.. holy cow!

The video shows to what lengths people can go to get a hand on the iPhone 3GS. Since iPhone 3G was launched just a year ago, it was hard to believe that thousands of people were ready to pay a $300 upgrade fee. This queue is 2 hours before the iPhone store closed, and it is quite likely that atleast 20% of them would overnight in the queue. I guess the iPhone is worth the wait!”
