GetJar Apps Store hits half billion downloads
Half a billion or more than 500,000,000 million downloads so far at the GetJar Apps store. The independent application store cater to all form of platform, from iPhone to Android.
Some 50,000 apps are in its inventory in over 200 countries. GetJar attribute their success to the evolving community that supports the site. From small-time developers to large-scale ones.
So far at GetJar, the popular apps includes Opera Mini (17 million downloads), eBuddy (16 million downloads), Nimbuzz (14 million downloads) and Google Maps (5 million downloads).
I personally think this is a great alternative to Apple’s App Store to find niche and unique apps. I’ve not tried myself, but will give it a go.
